Alanna Lynch is a Canadian artist and researcher currently based in Berlin. She works with living organisms, biological materials, smell, and performance, focusing on the stickiness of feelings. She draws on her background in the sciences, in particular biology and psychology, as well as from her own embodied experiences, past activism, and textile studies.
Her transdisciplinary artistic research is often presented in installation and performance. She has exhibited and performed internationally most recently in Berlin, Geneva, Malmö, Montreal, and Vancouver. She is a founding member of Scent Club Berlin, an artist collective experimenting with smell. Her work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts as well as by grants and foundations in Germany and Sweden. She was awarded the Berlin Art Prize in 2018.
